I’m back on the blog after taking last week off for Spring Break. I’m ready to talk about the theme for this month on the blog, it’s all about wellness. While it’s easy to automatically think of health with wellness, it’s so much more than that. Wellness is about your body but also your mind and soul.
While we all know that focusing on our overall wellness is good for us. How often do we prioritize our wellness? To be honest, for me, it’s a challenge especially when life gets busy. So if you encounter a similar struggle prioritizing your wellness, here’s a few tips that will help you stay on track.
Before we get to the tips, one thing you need to know is your Why you want to focus on your wellness.
What’s your why? If you know why wellness is important for you, it makes it a lot easier to do the workouts, change up your diet, and practice the self care. Knowing your why will be what gets you moving and doing the things your soul needs. That internal motivation is what will keep you going even on hard and busy days.
Ok, so here are the rest of the tips.
- Start small. Seriously. When I was changing up my workout routine and waking up to workout at 5am, I challenged myself to do this for just 5 days (Monday through Friday). After I did the first 5 days, I challenged myself to another and then another and before you knew it, I was waking up at 5 am and working out 5 days a week. Even on those days when I would rather sleep in, I now find myself waking up and working out.
- Set your schedule. Just like we schedule doctors, dentist and even nail or hair appointments, scheduling your workouts and self care will ensure that you have the time, even when life gets busy. If you need to go a step further, set alarms on your phone so you don’t miss a workout or time for self care.
- Keep track of your progress. Grab a notebook or use the notes app on your phone and write it all down. Share your successes, challenges and everything in between. By writing down your progress, you’re able to see all the strides you’re making especially when it may feel like you’re not making progress at all.
In addition to these tips, you can also create a vision board for your wellness, get an accountability partner that can both help you to be successful while keeping you on track with your goals. When it comes to making your wellness a priority, all of these tips mean nothing, if don’t have an internal motivation and that reason why. For years I put my wellness on the back burner and developed a lot of bad habits in the process. So when I finally decided why prioritizing my wellness was important to me, it made all the difference. So if you’re trying to do the same, I hope these tips will inspire you to get started and that you make sure that you make the wellness of your mind, body and soul a priority.
