If you’re running into issues reaching your goals and have fallen off track, don’t worry. I’ve been there and so has everyone else and today I’m sharing 4 tips that can help you get back on track.
- Review & Assess — when we struggle to meet a goal it’s usually because we’re overwhelmed and are trying to do too much. Other times our schedule, life, etc can hinder us from working on this goal. Take some time to review where things fell off track and what challenges you encountered and ask yourself what can I do differently. You know yourself so if there is a reason you’re struggling look at what you can do to reach this goal. Even if it means giving yourself a bit more time than just a year.
- Make small changes — once you identify what threw you off course make small changes to start a new habit. Like instead of saying you’re going to work out 7 days a week when the most you’re done is 2 days a week, that isn’t going to work out. Start with 2 days and build from there.
- Change up your Action Steps — sometimes the action steps we need to make may not work like we hoped and that’s OK. Go back and change up the actions you need to take to reach your goal. It may mean adding more steps , taking some away or starting over. That’s OK to do.
- Let it go — If you have a goal that you’re struggling with due to issues outside of what you can do. It’s OK to press the pause button on a goal. If you’re running into roadblocks, it’s more than OK to let go of that goal.
We’ve all fallen off track on a goal. There is always a goal each year that I struggle with so don’t feel bad but take some time to think about how to get yourself back on track, let go of that goal or try again next year. I hope these tips can help you through that process.
