Setting goals and listing out the action steps is easy but the struggle is staying motivated throughout the year. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just not sure how to keep making things happen, here are 4 ways to stay on track with your goals.
- Break Up Your Goals — once you’re done making your goals and listing the action steps you need to make to reach them. Go one step further and prioritize your goals and focus on one goal right now. Instead of feeling like you need to make traction on all your goals all at once, change it up and focus on a smaller number.
- Look for quick wins — if you have goals that will be easy to reach quickly, do those first. Get some easy wins and celebrate. By starting with the easy goals first it will build momentum and keep you excited as you go for harder goals. The reason why is that you already have some finished goals that you’ve reached so you can reach the harder ones too.
- Always give yourself grace — I know this is said a lot but it’s because it’s so easy to beat ourselves up if we miss a workout, have a “cheat day” that goes for a week and we feel like we’ve failed and that makes it hard for us to feel motivated to reach our goal. Hey, we all have been there and just because you had a bad day or week doesn’t mean it’s time to give up, tomorrow is a new day so give yourself grace and keep going.
- Use Trackers or Get Accountability Partners — If you haven’t already get an accountability partner who’s going to check in with you and offer you support to reach your goals. If finding someone to be an accountability patner hasn’t been easy to do, look into some productivity/habit trackers. I shared a list of a few in the last blog post. By having additional motivation, it will help you to keep going when things get tough.
I hope that these tips are helpful in keeping you going as you work towards your goals.
