Behind the Design of the Grateful Day Journal
Last week I talked about the Everyday Joy Journal and shared all the things I love about that journal. Well, this week, I’m going to talk all about the Grateful Day Journal and the inspiration behind this journal and why it’s a great journal to capture your daily gratitude and cultivate it too.
For the last few years, I used a notebook or blank journal to write down my daily gratitude. But, I wanted something more and decided to create the type of gratitude journal I wish existed. I wanted a journal that had space for gratitude but I also wanted to go a little deeper and find ways to also cultivate more gratitude in my life. When I started to design this journal, I made a list of the things I wanted in this journal and most of the things I listed became what I really love about this journal. Here’s the list.
#1 Space for Gratitude and room for something extra.
The one thing I noticed about so many gratitude journals is how similar they all were. I wanted something different than what I was seeing. I knew I wanted plenty of space for you to write down the things you’re grateful for and to also have space to share:
- A Highlight from your day
- Answer a short prompted question about other things happening in your life
- write an intention or affirmation for the day
As I created the inside pages I felt like seeing the same page design over and over again gets to be a bit mundane and anyone can easily loose interest. In this journal, there are multiple page designs that give you variety and changes things up. I wanted you to enjoy writing out the things your grateful for each day while also capturing highlights and good things from your life.
#2 Plenty of Prompts
Mixed in with the daily pages are prompts that allow you to write a little bit more about moments, memories and people you’re grateful for. The prompts are a space where you can take more time and writing space to reflect on events in your life that were important and celebrate them.
#3 Gratitude tips
Throughout the journal there are tips that inspire you to give, reflect and share gratitude with the people in your life. Each tip is focused on extending gratitude beyond just writing it down. These tips make gratitude an action that you can start to cultivate in simple and small ways.
What I love most about this journal is that whether you’ve been keeping a gratitude journal for a long time or you’re just starting, this journal is perfect at helping you practice gratitude and giving you space to go a little deeper. This journal is not your typical gratitude journal and that’s the one thing I wanted to make sure was reflected in the design. I wanted this journal to be fun, I wanted you to be excited to use it each day but in the end I want this journal to inspire you to make the intention to have an attitude of gratitude everyday.
One more thing…
