Over the past year or so, I’ve been working on new products to add to the shop. I’ve made some changes to the mug collection. Created new notepads and I’m working on a few other products that have been on my heart to create for years I just didn’t know how to do it. Well, recently I’ve experienced a few roadblocks while creating these new products that made me feel like giving up.
The issue I was having is that the product samples weren’t right or the materials I wanted to use didn’t work like I hoped. As each launch date I set came and went. I felt like I was failing. I wondered if any of these products would ever see the light of day. I really did want to quit. In the middle of all these delays and changes, I realized that sometimes the roadblocks we encounter isn’t to make us quit but to make us go in a different direction. I’ve been learning to embrace the redirection and not look at these challenges or setbacks as failure but to ask myself if there is something I need to do differently. I know that these products will find their way to the shop. It just may take more time that I planned and that’s OK.
If you’re experiencing your own roadblocks, challenges, setbacks or even rejection, as hard as it is, know it’s OK. Know that you’re going to be OK and that instead of quitting or feeling like your failing, keep going. It won’t be easy. Be flexible in your timeline and if you need to quit for a day, Do that. Take a break and then start again. When we’re doing something new it won’t always be sunshine and rainbows. Those challenges aren’t there to break you down or cause you to quit but to get you to take a different path see a different perspective or try a different approach. You’re not failing. It’s not time to quit, you’re just being redirected and that may lead you to discover something even bigger and better than you imagined.
