It’s hard to believe that we’re at the half-way mark for 2019. While there are plenty of blog and social media post to remind you of this. Don’t panic. If reaching your goals is taking longer than you thought or you’ve gotten totally off track, here are 3 ways to refocus and restart your goals.
- Celebrate what you have accomplished. It’s easy to focus on what hasn’t happened and overlook what you have already achieved this year. While you may not be where you want to be, you’re further than you were at the start of the year. That’s worth celebrating.
- Focus on 1 or 2 goals. At the start of the year we (me, definitely included) get ambitious and have a list of goals that we want to achieve. Usually at this time of the year we may realize that the list of goals we made may not all get done by the end of the year and that’s OK. Use this half-way mark in the year to shift your focus and look at one or two goals that you can accomplish by the end of this year. Move all those other goals to work on next year.
- Make a plan of action. The only way to reach goals is to set some actionable steps. Think about small and easy steps that you can take over the course of the rest of the year. Use your calendar to set some reminders to keep you accountable. If at any point you feel overwhelmed, give yourself a break (and grace) review your goals and see if you’ve placed some big expectations on yourself that are creating added pressure that you may need to let go of.
Yes 2019 is half way over but don’t let that discourage you. There is plenty of time to achieve goals in an intentional way that doesn’t make you feel stressed or overwhelmed. I hope that these 3 easy steps can help you reach those goals with a little ease and plenty of grace.
