They say it takes 21 days to make a habit, so once you’ve identified the habits you want to set the next thing to do is set yourself so that you’re successful at this new habit. To do that, you need an accountability partner, a habit tracker or both.
Keeping a habit especially one that is new to you isn’t always easy and having accountability through a partner and/or a tracker is a great way to ensure that this habit becomes permanent.
Having an accountability parter can help keep you motivated on hard days, a habit tracker will give you the visual motivation to see your progress and track your goal of making that habit one you do beyond 30 days. Both of these things are just two factors in being successful at keeping a habit. The main secret to your success is knowing the reason why you want to set this habit. The external motivator of a tracker or accountability is great but any habit you make needs to have an internal motivating factor too. Whether your why is because it’s good for your health, your self care or personal development it’s why you want to set this habit that will keep you going on days you want to quit. Combined with the tracker and accountability partner, it will set you up for success.
One additional external factor that I almost forgot about is giving yourself a a reward when you finish you’re 30 days. By deciding how or what you will treat yourself is another motivating factor that whether big or small should mean something to you so that when the goal is accomplished and the habit is set you can celebrate your hard work.
While I can’t help you find an accountability partner, I can share a great 30-day habit tracker with you that I’ve created to help you. Download the habit tracker below and use it to help you track your progress.
