There are so many different ways to journal and in this post, I wanted to share a few of the more popular types of journals to keep. Lets start with a few of the more popular types of journaling.
The Bullet Journal
If you search the Bullet Journaling you will find A LOT of information and inspiration. But if you’re not really sure what a bullet journal is, don’t worry it wasn’t totally clear to me at first either. What I learned about this type of journaling is that it’s an organizing method. The Bullet Journal is part journal, planner, notebook and tracker. Basically, your bullet journal is created by you to suit your needs and keep you organized. One thing I will say is that this journaling type leaves the creation of all your pages to you and why you don’t need to have any artistic abilities, the pages you may see on social media may make you think otherwise. If this method appeals to you don’t worry about how it looks as long as you can read it, that’s all that matters. For info on how to set up your Bullet Journal, I found this youtube video to be helpful. Also check out this article and this one too.
Morning Pages
Morning Pages is another very popular journal to keep is one that uses a unique process. This journaling concept comes from the very popular book The Artist Way. This journaling type is one that is perfect if you’re looking for something to do for a morning routine. How it works is that you in the morning you are to write any and everything that comes to your mind every day. To me it’s like a stream of consciousness style of journaling where you write uninterrupted until you fill three pages. For this journal type it’s one that’s best to do long hand. If you’re looking for a way to clear your mind of all the things going around in your head, this is a helpful journaling type to try. Check out this blog post for a more detailed explanation of this journal type.
Oh and if you’re looking for a great book, to help you get to your most creative self, check out the book The Artist Way .
Art Journaling
This journaling type is one that is definitely for those who are artistic. If you’re looking for a way to creatively express your abilities, Art Journaling is for you. This is a journal that you can keep of your own art, ideas or you can also use prompts and then create your own artistic creation. When it comes to art journaling, there are no rules. You just create. If you feel that blank page to be daunting, start with a sketch and then go from there. If you need some additional information to get started, check this out.
