When I was a little girl I loved to do crafts. I may date myself by saying this, but my Mom had this encyclopedia set for kids and there was one book all about arts and crafts and to my sister and my delight, we used that book A LOT. Once my sister and I started making things, including plenty of messes, I don’t know if my Mom was as excited about her purchase. But it was those books that made me the person who likes to learn and make crafts and I’m thankful for that.
This weeks Self Care Tip is about channeling that time of my life and inspiring myself and you to make something this weekend. You don’t have to be “crafty” to make something. We all have something we enjoy making it could be a piece of art, making cookies, baking a cake, creating jewelry, knitting, drawing, taking photos or repurposing a furniture piece for our home. We’re all makers, and the things we “make” don’t have to look or be exactly the same. That’s the beauty in making things.
Beyond the fun that comes from making something, we learn something new about ourselves and pick up some new skills too. We also get to spend time with ourselves while reconnecting to hobby we like to do.
So… what are you making this weekend? I’m thinking of baking a new cookie recipe or making a necklace or bracelet. If you’ve got a full weekend look for another weekend when you can block out some time to make something.
