Is there a place in your home that is screaming for attention? I know the space for me is my guest room closet. It’s the catch all space of my home. Part junk hider, part storage, part “I don’t know where to put this so I’ll just stuff it in here”. This space is screaming “hey girl, come deal with this.” Of course I’ve been ignoring this space so if any of this sounds familiar to you, you’re not alone.
Now, if you’re thinking what’s this got to do with self care? It’s easy, self care isn’t just about doing things for our internal selves but also externally. Clearing out the clutter or just organizing a space in your home, can do so much for you emotionally but also physically.
Our living space is a reflection of what’s going on in our lives. Think about how you feel when you see a space in your home that is cluttered or not organized. I usually feel heavy and a bit stressed. When our space is cluttered, it can signify some other things going on in our lives from being overwhelmed, busy, or even stressed. When our living spaces are clean and organized that stress and heaviness is lifted and beyond that we can find things we’re looking for because stuff we don’t need is gone and we won’t feel overwhelmed or stressed by our own homes.
There is something refreshing and invigorating when we organize and clean up a space in our homes. So if you like me have a space that is calling your name, why not start clearing out and organizing that space today. You don’t have to do it all at once, break it down in steps. Once we start, we’ll be glad that we took the time to finally do it.
Oh and if you need some inspiration to get started…
- One of the books I love that helped me get myself ALL the way together, is a Simplified Life. I also wrote a post that highlights the book here.
- One of my favorite instagram accounts to follow for all things organization is the Home Edit. The bonus is their often funny instagram stories that I can totally relate to. You can also check out their website here.
