The Benefits of Gratitude

Happy November to you!  After the 30 days of Kindness challenge in October I took the first few days of November off for a blogging break.  Now refreshed, I’m ready to start blogging again and this months theme is all about Gratitude.

Before I talk more about Gratitude and its benefits, can we take a moment to talk about how fast the year has moved and that it’s in fact November and Christmas feels like it’s days away?  If you’re feeling a bit of disbelief like I am, know that you’re not alone.
Alright, now that, that is off my chest, Let’s talk Gratitude.
There is plenty of scientific support that talks about the benefits of gratitude.  I thought I’d share a few of those benefits below:
  • boost to your well being
  • appreciation for what you have and the people in your life
  • improved relationships
  • more contentment
  • eliminates stress
  • self-esteem booster
  • improves mental health
In addition to the benefits above, there are also a few  health benefits including
  • getting better sleep
  • increased immunity
  • healthier heart
While we often focus on gratitude in conjunction with Thanksgiving, with all of these benefits, it seems crazy not to practice gratitude everyday and not just around the Thanksgiving Holiday.  It’s clear that practicing an attitude of gratitude is definitely great for your health and well being.
Over the rest of this month I will share show challenges and ways to start practicing gratitude as well as other unexpected ways Gratitude can benefit you.  Check back on Wednesday for our first Challenge.
Have a great day!
