Hi Friends! I know my Thursday Type post have been a bit sporadic. I’ve been busy with a few custom project deadlines so unfortunately I don’t get to post about one of my favorite topics as often as I’d like. Well this week, I want to share some of the lettering books that have been added to my wish list. I’ve broken this post into two parts because there are a lot of great books! This week I’ll share some great books that are perfect if you’re interested in lettering or calligraphy and want to learn more.
I follow Chalk Full of Love on Instagram so I’ve known about this book for some time, but it’s currently hanging out on my book wish list. What I love about this book is that there are pages that you can practice your lettering while learning some helpful tips. This book is great if you’re looking to get started with hand lettering and need a helpful guide.
A Simple Copperplate Manual
If you’re interested in learning more about calligraphy and not sure where to start, this book is a perfect place to begin. I wish this book was in print when I was first learning calligraphy. This is a helpful guide by well-known calligrapher Rachel Yallop and this book is filled with so much instruction that you will know everything you need to know to perfect the copperplate style of calligraphy. Check out this post for more information about this book.

The Ultimate Brush Lettering Guide
This is another helpful guide if you’re looking to learn more about Brush Lettering and also modern calligraphy too. What I like about this book is the practice pages and really helpful guides that walk you through creating a letter. Whether you’re a beginner or have been lettering for awhile now, this book meets you where you are.
Modern Calligraphy Workshop: The Creative Art of Pen, Brush and Chalk Lettering
Another fabulous book on modern calligraphy. This book starts at the very beginning giving you information on the right type of tools to use and starts with just the basics before moving into more details like lettering practice, projects and more!
Ok, that’s it for this week. Check out these books and let me know what you think in the comments. If you have a lettering book you think I should check out, leave the title in the comments and I’ll check it out. Part two of this post will be next week. Until then, have a great day!
